Mount the 353-2794 Satellite Receiver onto either the mounting bracket or onto the modified mast with four 8T-4136 Bolts and four 8T-4121 Washers .Note: The installation location should provide the GPS Receiver with an unobstructed view of the sky. Note: The GPS Receiver should be mounted to allow the operator easy visibility of the LEDs when outside of the cab. This location may be determined by site preference.Note: Torque all mounting bolts to standard Caterpillar specifications.
Attach the 16-pin connector on the 285-6657 Wiring Harness to the mating plug on the GPS Receiver.Installing the Front Harness
The 290-1917 Front Harness routes between the display, power, and the 290-1918 Rear Harness .
For ease of routing, route the harness from the display back to power and to the 290-1918 Rear Harness connection. This routing method ensures that removing the 70-pin connector is not required.
Route the 290-1917 Front Harness . The harness is routed from the display through the floor plate to where the connection for the 290-1918 Rear Harness will be located.

Route the power connection. This connection breaks off from the 290-1917 Front Harness to where the 167-8984 Battery is mounted.

As shown in Illustration 14, using clamps or cable ties, secure the main harness.

Attach the 8-pin connector to the mating connector in the 290-1918 Rear Harness .Installing the Radio Harness
The radio harness that is currently installed with the CAES system is not compatible with the new CAESultra system. This harness will need to be removed and the new radio harness will need to be routed.Depending on the machine type, the installation kit may include two radio harnesses, a short 285-6654 Radio Harness and a long 285-6653 Radio Harness . The short radio harness is used in all applications. The long harness is only used for a few machine types as a way to extend the radio harness out to the radio mounting location.Note: If this installation is utilizing the TC900B radio, then the 205-4285 Power Converter is required. If the TC900C radio is used, then a 278-7396 Wire As (DC/DC Replacement Plug) is required.The following instructions refer to the mounting of the 285-6654 Radio Harness :
Route the 285-6654 Radio Harness from the cab mounting location of the 290-1918 Rear Harness toward the radio. Follow the same route that the original radio harness used. Note: The application may require the use of the 285-6653 Radio Harness to extend the length of the harness. If the extension harness is used, then connect the harness to the radio harness and continue routing the harness to the radio.
Secure the radio harnesses using clamps or cable ties.
Sheath all exposed harness that may come in contact with hard, sharp, or coarse surfaces during operation. This preventive measure will help to prevent damage
