A new aftercooler core is available for 3406E, C15, and C18 marine engines. The part number of the core is 315-0047 Aftercooler Core As . This part number is the latest update in a series of updates to the core.Upgrading the core on most engines involves switching the aftercooler core only. Early 3406E serial numbers with the 118-8629 Core will need new parts in order to perform an upgrade to the latest core.Required Parts

When the aftercooler is updated, also ensure that the correct condensate drain lines are installed on the aftercooler housing. Use the 134-3458 Aftercooler Drain Lines Gp when the rear of the engine is lower than the front of the engine. Use the 134-3459 Aftercooler Drain Lines Gp when the front of the engine is lower than the rear of the engine.Note: It is not necessary to replace the aftercooler base with the latest part number. If the aftercooler base is updated, then the aftercooler condensate drain group must also be updated. The latest part number of the drain group is 224-2382 Aftercooler Drain Lines Gp .Serial number effectivity is (S/N: 9WR1-916).
