Remove Oil Filter Housing
Start By:a. remove expansion tank 1. Remove the bolts from adapter (1) to disconnect it from the oil filter housing. Steps 2, 3 and 4 are for earlier engines.
Earlier Engine2. Remove the bolts and retainers that hold oil cooler tube (2) to remove the tube from the oil filter housing.
Earlier Engine3. Remove clamp (4) that holds the two fuel lines to the oil filter housing.4. Remove the bolts to disconnect elbow (3) from the oil filter housing. Remove elbow (3) and tube (5) as a unit from elbow (6). 5. Use tooling (A) to fasten a hoist to oil filter housing (7). Remove the bolts that hold the housing to the support, and remove the housing from the engine. The weight of oil filter housing (7) is 74 kg (163 lb.).Install Oil Filter Housing
1. Use tooling (A) to fasten a hoist to oil filter housing (1). Put the housing in position on the support, and install the bolts to hold the housing in position. Steps 2, 3 and 4 are for earlier engines.
Earlier Engine2. Make a replacement of the O-ring seals for elbow (2) and tube (4) if necessary. Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seals, and install tube (4) in elbow (2). Install tube (4) and elbow (2) as a unit in elbow (5), and install the bolt that holds elbow (2) in position.3. Install clamp (3) that holds the two fuel lines to the oil filter housing.
Earlier Engine4. If necessary, make a replacement of the O-ring seal on oil cooler tube (6), and put clean engine oil on the seal. Push the tube into the oil filter housing, and install the bolts and retainers to hold the tube in position. 5. Start By:a. remove oil filter housing 1. Remove the bolts, and remove cover (1) from the housing assembly. 2. Remove O-ring seal (2) from cover (1).3. Remove ring (3) to remove retainer (4), the spring and O-ring seal from cover (1). 4. Remove three element assemblies (5) from the housing assembly. Steps 5 through 14 are for later engines.
Later Engine5. Remove O-ring seals (7) from housing (6), and remove the bolts to remove housing (6) from the housing assembly. The weight of housing (6) is 25 kg (55 lb.).
Later Engine6. Remove O-ring seal (8) from the housing.
Cover (10) has spring tension behind it. Loosen bolts (9) slowly until all of the spring tension is released.
7. Slowly remove bolts (9) to release the spring tension behind cover (10), and remove cover (10) from the housing.
Later Engine8. Remove O-ring seals (11), spring (12) and the valve from the housing.
Later Engine9. Remove the bolts and nuts to remove cover assembly (13) from the housing.
Later Engine10. If necessary, remove pins (14) from cover assembly (13).
Later Engine11. Remove O-ring seal (15) from the housing.12. Remove plug (17) to remove valve (16) from the housing.
Later Engine13. Remove adapter (18)
