Reports have been received that certain machines of the models listed above may be difficult to start. The F3 fuse may fail or the battery light may be on constantly. This may result in the failure of the alternator assembly.Solution
In the event of failure, replace the 399-2921 Alternator As with the same part number.For repeated alternator assembly failures, create a GDSN Product Health Service Request (SR) with priority of "Product Inquiry / Informational". Add any pertinent photos and detailed failure information for the product group. Mention the CPI number #421373 in the CPI field (and /or) mention the TIB media number in the description or title (searchable fields). Then close the service request at the dealership without submitting to Caterpillar. This will alert the CPI Team that you have documented this failure in PSCRM.
