Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there is adequate clearance for the machine being transported.To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow, or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width, and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown). 2. Lower all attachments to the floor of the transport machine. Move all implement controls to the neutral position.3. Move the transmission control lever to neutral.4. Engage the transmission lever lock.5. Engage the parking brake control and push down the brake pedal.6. Stop the engine.7. Turn the key start switch to OFF and remove the key.8. Turn the battery disconnect switch to OFF and remove the key.9. Lock the door, access covers and attach any vandalism protection.10. Secure the machine with tie-downs when transporting on a rail car or a tractor-trailer.11. Cover the exhaust opening. Turbocharger (if equipped) damage can result if turbocharger rotates without the engine operating.Machine Lifting/Tiedown Information

Parking brake must be engaged before slinging or tiedown.3. Use proper rated cables and slings for lifting. Position crane for level machine lift.Position slings beneath track at front and rear for machine without ripper. Position slings beneath track at front and under ripper at rear for machine with ripper. On sharp corners, use corner protectors.4. Spreader bar widths should be sufficient to prevent contact with machine.5. Tiedowns:Front tiedowns - use front tiedown eye on the bottom guard under the radiator.Side tiedowns - use inside edge of track shoe.Rear tiedowns - use drawbar, ripper, or outer edge of track shoe.Check appropriate laws governing weight, width, and length of load.Contact your Caterpillar dealer for shipping instructions for your machine.
