1. To remove oil filter and base (6), disconnect tube (1) and hose (4). Remove bolts (2), and remove bracket (5) and the oil filter and base as a unit.2. To service the oil filter bypass valve, remove plug (3) and remove spool (7) and spring (8) from the oil filter base. The following steps are for the installation of the transmission oil filter base and bypass valve.3. Make sure spool (7) slides freely in the bore. Lubricate spool (7) and seal and plug (3) into the oil filter base.4. If the filter and base were removed, check the seals in tube (1) and hose (4). Install the oil filter and base in the reverse order if removal.
