Inspect the Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) for bolts that are loose or damaged. Replace any damaged bolts and any missing bolts with original replacement parts only. Tighten the bolts to the following torques:
105 20 N m (75 15 lb ft) for 0.500 inch bolts.
370 50 N m (275 37 lb ft) for 0.750 inch bolts.
620 80 N m (460 60 lb ft) for 0.875 inch bolts.
900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft) for 1.000 inch bolts.Note: Apply oil to all bolt threads for the ROPS before you install the bolts. Improper bolt torque can result if you do not apply oil to the threads.Do not weld reinforcement plates to the ROPS in order to straighten the ROPS. Do not weld reinforcement plates to the ROPS in order to repair the ROPS.If the ROPS has any cracks in the welds, in the castings, or in any metal section, consult your Caterpillar dealer for repairs.
