Remove the ripper lift cylinders. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Lift Cylinder - Remove".
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.
Note: If necessary, perform Steps 1 and 2 in order to remove the hose assemblies from the back of the machine. If it is not necessary to remove the hose assemblies from the back of the machine, perform Step 3 through Step 20 in order to remove the ripper.

Remove bolts (1) and mounting bracket (2) .

Remove tees (3) and (4) and remove the hoses and the bracket as a unit, if necessary.

Use appropriate blocking in order to support the carriage assembly. The weight of the carriage assembly is approximately 317 kg (700 lb).
Use two straps to support link (6) .
Remove the bolts and pin retainers (8). Remove pin (5) and pin (7).
Remove link (6) .
Repeat Step 5 on the other side of the ripper carriage.

Attach Tooling (A) and an appropriate lifting device to the ripper carriage. Use Tooling (B) to support link assembly (10) .
Remove the blocking from carriage assembly.
Remove the retaining bolt and pin (9) .
Repeat Step 10 for pin (9) on the other side of the ripper carriage.
Remove the ripper carriage. The weight of the ripper carriage and the shank assemblies is approximately 317 kg (700 lb).

Attach two straps and an appropriate lifting device to link assembly (10) .
Remove the retaining bolt and pin (11) .
Repeat Step 14 for pin (11) on the other side of the link assembly.
Remove the link assembly from the mounting brackets. The weight of the link assembly is approximately 79 kg (174 lb).

Attach an appropriate lifting device to mounting bracket (12). Remove the bolts and the washers from the mounting bracket.
Remove mounting bracket (12). The weight of mounting bracket (12) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).
Repeat Step 17 and Step 18 with the other mounting bracket.

Remove ripper shank assembly (13) from the ripper carriage. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7479, "Ripper - Inspect\Replace" for the correct procedure.
