Calibration of the Transmission Fill With Cat ET
References
The following requirements must be met in order to ensure that the process of calibrating the transmission can be completed with Cat ET:
Laptop computer with serial port
Communications adapter
The latest version of Cat ET loaded on the laptop.
A flash file (.fls) must be loaded into the A4 electronic control module (ECM) on the machine.If the Information System Builder is required, then the following additional files will also be required:
An ELF file (.elf) must be used to communicate with a given Flash File.
The Information System Builder also requires a "setup" file. The file is created or loaded into the Information System Builder so that instructions can be uploaded into the ECM.Calibration Procedure With the Cat ET Service Tool
Calibration of the Clutch
The program is set up in order to calibrate the fill time, for a given clutch. The program will also provide feedback if errors occur during the process of calibration.This procedure should be carried out when the following occurs:
Replacing the ECM
Replacing an ECPC valve
Replacing the transmissionCalibrating
Operate the transmission in order to warm the oil to normal operating temperature.
Connect and Open ET.
Click on the "SERVICE" menu and then click Calibrations.
Select "Transmission Fill Calibration".
Verify that the following conditions are met:
The engine is at 1600 rpm or higher.
The direction lever is in the neutral position.
"Parking Brake" is applied.
During the calibration, this temperature must be above 60 °C (140°F) and this temperature must be below 96 °C (205 °F).
If these conditions are met click "NEXT".

Approximately 15 minutes are required in order to complete the calibration. When the calibration procedure is completed successfully, click "FINISH".
If any errors occur, a reason and a code will appear in a window. ReferenceRefer to Troubleshooting, UENR3188.
Report the error code to the technical communicator at your Caterpillar dealership for additional instructions.

If calibration is stopped for any reason or if calibration fails, the previous calibrated values will remain as the default.
