Diagnostic codes 3163-14, 3164-14, 3165-14, 3166-14,3167-14 or 3168-14 are occurring on certain Series F Asphalt Pavers, also causing a level 3, E1594 "Screed Heating-Not Responding To Command".Solution
For those machines with 316x-14 codes occurring (E1594-3 will also occur), we recommend that the customer disable then re-enable screed heating to see if the code(s) go inactive. If the codes go inactive, keep using the machine.At a convenient time for the customer, the dealer should use Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool, to download the Data Transport as per the instructions in Troubleshooting , M0064686 from the Generator ECM and attach it to a DSN ticket sent to attention of Eric J. Ruth, John G. Frovold, or Tony Steinhagen. Caterpillar will then verify if the same pulse pattern is present. A concept Generator ECM software release will then be made available, which should to prevent the suspect pulse pattern. A production software release is planned but field hours are required prior to release.If there is a serious problem requiring repair, even re-enabling screed heating will not cause the codes to go inactive. If the diagnostic fault 316x-14 codes with E1594-3 codes do not go inactive, follow the troubleshooting steps, checking the wiring from the generator ECM to the Power Inverter, etc. We DO NOT recommend changing the Generator Power Inverter or the Generator ECM because of 316x-14 codes without first entering a DSN (Attention Eric J. Ruth, John G. Frovold or Tony Steinhagen), with the downloaded Data transport file from the Generator ECM attached.
