Look for any loose or damaged bolts. Replace damaged bolts or missing bolts with original equipment parts only. Retighten bolts to a torque of 360 50 N m (265 60 lb ft).Replace ROPS mounting supports if the ROPS rattles or makes a noise when the machine is operated on a rough surface.Do not straighten or repair by welding reinforcement plates to the ROPS.Contact your Caterpillar dealer for repair of cracks in welds, castings or any metal section of the ROPS.Differentials and Final Drives
Change Oil
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
1. Position each wheel with the drain plug down. Remove the drain plugs and drain the oil. 2. Remove the front differential drain plug and drain the oil. Clean and install all drain plugs. 3. Remove the rear differential drain plug and drain the oil. Clean and install all drain plugs. 4. Remove the front differential fill plugs. Fill the differential and the final drives through fill opening. See the "Refill Capacities" chart. 5. Remove the rear differential fill plugs. Fill the differential and the final drives through fill opening. See the "Refill Capacities" chart. 6. If the complete amount of oil listed in the "Refill Capacities" chart will not go into the housing, install the plug. Run the machine on level ground a few minutes to equalize the oil in the differential and final drives. 7. Remove the fill plug and add the remaining oil.8. Clean and install all fill plugs. 9. Operate the machine a few minutes and recheck the oil level. Oil should be to the bottom of the fill plug opening.Cooling System
Change the Coolant
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Drain the coolant earlier whenever the coolant is dirty or foaming is observed. 1. Loosen the radiator coolant cap slowly to release pressure, and remove the cap.2. Remove the access cover located in the engine guard under the engine. 3. Open the valve and allow the coolant to drain.4. Close the coolant drain valve.5. Fill the cooling system with a cleaning solution. Use a commercially available cleaner or 1 kg (2 lbs) sodium bisulfate per 38 liters (10 gal) water as a cleaner.6. Start and operate the engine for 1/2 hour.7. Stop the engine and drain the cleaning solution.8. Flush the system with water with the engine stopped, until the draining water is clear.9. Close the drain valve. Fill the system with a neutralizer. Use a commercially available neutralizer.10. Operate the engine for ten minutes.11. Stop the engine and drain the neutralizer.12. Flush the system with water with the engine stopped, until the draining water is clear.13. Close the
