Remove four bolts (1) and the washers that secure two dust shields (2) to the spindle. Remove two dust shields (2) from the spindle.

Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.
Use Tooling (A) to remove two springs (3) from shoe assemblies (4) .

Remove wire (5) from two bolts (6) . Loosen bolt (6) that secures pin (7) . Remove two springs (8) that secure two retainers (9) and the felt washers to pin (7) . Remove two retainers (9) and the felt washers from pin (7) . Repeat the procedure for the other pin.

Remove two pins (7) that secure shoe assemblies (4) to the spindle. Remove shoe assemblies (4) from the spindle.

Remove cotter pin (8) that secures pin (9) to slack adjuster (10) and the brake actuator. Remove pin (9) that secures slack adjuster (10) to the brake actuator.
