Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

(1) Lubricate the nut with Tooling (C). Tighten the nut to a torque of 2169 217 N m (1600 160 lb ft). (2) (3) Lubricate the sealing lips with the lubricant that is being sealed. (4) Apply Tooling (D) to the wiper seal groove prior to assembly.Installation Procedure

Use the suitable lifting device in order to position ejector cylinder (4) into the machine. The weight of ejector cylinder (4) is approximately 118 kg (260 lb).
Place blocking across the rear frame in order to support the cylinder during installation.

Install chain in order to support the ejector cylinder during installation.
Install blocking in order to prevent the ejector cylinder from moving toward the rear of the machine.

Install pin assembly (11) and bolt (10) .

Connect hose assembly (5) onto ejector cylinder (4). Install bolts (6) .
Position hose assembly (5) and clip (8) onto ejector cylinder (4). Install bolt (9) .

Fully extend the rod for the ejector cylinder.
Install pin (1) and the spacers. Install bar (3) and bolts (2) .

Connect hose assembly (7) to the head end of ejector cylinder (4) .
