Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Open the right rear engine enclosure door.

Remove engine oil filter (1) and drain into a suitable container.

Remove bolts (2). Remove engine oil filter base (3) and the gasket.
If necessary, remove connector (4).Installation Procedure
Install engine oil filter base (3) in the reverse order of removal.
If connector (4) was removed, apply Tooling (A) to connector (4) and tighten connector (4) to a torque of 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft).
