Schematic for the Position Sensor (Lift Linkage)This fault is recorded when the ECM determines that the signal for the lift linkage position sensor is too high. The lift linkage position sensor is a PWM sensor. The signal wire for the lift linkage position sensor connects to connector contact J2-35 (wire C530-BU) of the ECM. Service Notes: Ensure that the CID 0350 FMI 00 fault is on hold and that the fault present indicator is ON. An FMI 00 fault is recorded when the ECM has read a sensor value that is greater than the specified upper range of the sensor. A possible cause of the FMI 00 fault follows:
The rotation or replacement of the lift linkage position sensor without proper recalibration may cause a fault. The position sensor could rotate farther than normal in one direction. The ECM would then record a FMI 00 fault.
CHECK ADJUSTMENT.
Adjust the lift linkage position sensor. See Testing and Adjusting, "Rotary Position Sensor (Lift Linkage) - Adjust".
Calibrate the lift linkage position sensor. See Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration".
Put the CID 0350 FMI 00 fault on hold.
Observe the ON/OFF status of the fault present indicator as the lift arm is fully raised and lowered. Expected Result: The fault present indicator is OFF. Results:
YES - The fault present indicator is OFF. The fault is not present now. Adjustment and calibration corrected the fault. Clear the fault. STOP.
NO - The fault present indicator is ON. The fault remains present. Proceed to Step 2.
REPLACE SENSOR AND RECALIBRATE.
The fault may be caused by a faulty sensor.
Replace the sensor and recalibrate the sensor. See Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration".
Recheck the fault.
Put the CID 0350 FMI 00 fault on hold.
Observe the ON/OFF status of the fault present indicator as the lift linkage position sensor is fully raised and lowered.Expected Result: The new sensor corrected the fault. Results:
YES - The new sensor corrected the fault. Resume machine operation. STOP.
NO - The fault present indicator is ON. The fault remains present. It is unlikely that the ECM is faulty. Perform the Calibration for the Lift Linkage Position Sensor again. Also verify if the fault present indicator is ON for this fault. If the cause is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". STOP.
