Start By:
Remove the hood group. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Remove and Install Hood Group".
Remove the muffler Assembly. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Remove and Install Muffler Assembly".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.
Note: The aftercooler has been removed for photographic purposes only.Note: Put identification marks on all lines and on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all lines and all hoses. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Remove wire tie (4) .
Loosen the nut on hose assembly (1) and position hose assembly (1) out of the way.
Remove bolt (2) and remove hose clamps (3) from the tube assembly.
Position hose assembly (5) away from the unit injector hydraulic pump.

Loosen nut (6) from the fitting. Loosen the bolt and remove clip (7). This will allow the removal of tube assembly (8) and O-ring seals (9) .

Remove screw (12) in order to separate connector (11) from connector (10) .
Remove two nuts (13).

Remove ground wires (16) from bracket (14).
Remove two bolts (15) and position bracket (14) with the electrical connector (10) out of the way.

Remove hose assembly (17) and position the hose assembly out of the way.
Remove three tube assemblies (18) .

Disconnect rail pressure control valve (19). Disconnect the oil pressure sensor at connector (20). Disconnect the oil temperature sensor at connector (21) .

Remove three bolts (22). One bolt is on the other side of the unit injector hydraulic pump.

Attach the appropriate nylon sling and a suitable lifting device to the unit injector hydraulic pump.

Remove two bolts (23). Remove the unit injector hydraulic pump. Remove the O-ring seals that are not shown. The weight of the unit injector hydraulic pump is approximately 30 kg (65 lb).
