Cat Data LinkThis diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM does not receive expected information from the Propel ECM over the Cat Data Link. For example, if gear status is not received from the Propel ECM through the Cat Data Link.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are:
Poor electrical connection at a machine harness connector.
Cat Data Link circuit in the machine harness is shorted to ground.
Cat Data Link circuit in the machine harness is shorted to + V.
Cat Data Link circuit in the machine harness is open.
The Propel ECM has failed. This is unlikely
The Conveyor ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: For machines equipped with the Burner Electronic Control System, check the Burner ECM in the same manner that this procedure checks the Propel ECM.Note: In order to hasten troubleshooting, check the other ECM's on the machine for a CID 248 FMI F11 diagnostic code. If two ECM's are reporting a CID 248 FMI F11 code, it is likely that a wiring harness problem exists with the Cat Data Link circuit between the two ECM's. System Response:The results of this diagnostic code are:
Conveyor diagnostic lamp on the machine operator's station will be ON.
The auger and the conveyor will not operate.Test Step 1. Inspect Harness Connectors
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Inspect the machine harness connections at the conveyor ECM and the propel ECM. Ensure that the connections are clean and secure.
Inspect the Cat Data Link service connector. Ensure that the connections are clean and secure.Expected Result:The connectors are all clean and the connectors are all secure.Results:
OK - The connectors are all clean and the connectors are all secure. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - One or more of the connectors are not clean and secure.Repair: A wiring harness connection is causing the problem. Repair the wiring harness or replace the wiring harness. Stop.Test Step 2. Check Harness For Short To GroundThe disconnect switch remains OFF.
