Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause serious injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the hydraulic system.
Note: Make sure that you use an oil with the correct viscosity for the operating conditions. To determine the correct oil viscosity, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for your machine.The operational checks can be used to find a leak in the hydraulic system. The checks can also be used to detect a faulty hydraulic control valve or a faulty hydraulic pump.Warm the oil to a minimum temperature of 60 °C (140 °F).Extend and retract both the backhoe cylinders and loader cylinders several times.
Watch the cylinders as the cylinder rods move. The movement of the cylinder rods should be smooth and regular.
Listen for noise from the pump.
Allow the cylinders to travel the full stroke in each direction.
