Adjustment (Stick Lowering Control Valve)
Illustration 7 g06268556
Stick lowering control valve
(9) Relief valve (stick cylinder lowering valve)
To adjust relief valve (9) on the stick lowering control valves, the line relief valve (5) on the main control valve must be temporarily adjusted.Note: A temporary adjustment of line relief valve for the stick cylinder rod end (5) may have been completed within the procedure to set the temporary main relief setting, "Temporary Main Relief Setting". If the adjustment has already been made to the line relief (5), proceed to Step 2.
Mark the original position of the line relief valve for the stick cylinder rod end (5).
Loosen the locknut for line relief valve (5). Turn the adjustment screw clockwise by one quarter turn. Tighten the locknut.
Mark the location of the adjustment screw on relief valve (9).
To adjust the relief valve pressure setting of the stick cylinder lowering valve (9), move the joystick for the stick until the stick is at the full STICK OUT position (full retraction of stick cylinder).
Check the pressure in the stick cylinder rod end at pressure tap (1).
Loosen the locknut of the relief valve (9). Turn adjustment screw of the relief valve until the pressure reading at pressure tap (1) is 37000 kPa (5366 psi).
Move the joystick for the stick until the stick is at the full Stick OUT position (full retraction of stick cylinder).
Check the pressure in the stick cylinder rod end at pressure tap (1).
Turn the adjustment screw of the relief valve (9) until the pressure reading at pressure tap (1) is 40000 500 kPa (5802 73 psi).Note: Always make final pressure adjustments on the pressure rise.Note: To prevent over setting, the adjustment should be stopped immediately after the pressure becomes within specification.
Tighten the locknut on the stick lowering control valve (9).
Move the joystick for the stick until the stick is at the full STICK OUT position (full retraction of stick cylinder).
Check the pressure setting of the line relief for the stick cylinder rod end (5).
Loosen the locknut for the stick line relief valve (5). Turn adjustment screw of the stick line relief valve counterclockwise until the pressure reading at pressure tap (1) is 37000 kPa (5366 psi).
Move the joystick for the stick until the stick is at the full STICK OUT position (full retraction of stick cylinder).
Check the pressure setting of the line relief for the stick cylinder rod end (5).
Turn the adjustment screw of the stick line relief valve until the pressure reading at pressure tap (1) is 41000 500 kPa (5947 73 psi).Note: Always make final pressure adjustments on the pressure rise.Note: To prevent over setting, the adjustment should be stopped immediately after the pressure becomes within specification.
Reset main relief valve pressure setting to the normal operating condition after the completion of the line relief test and adjust. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Main) - Test and Adjust".Adjustment (VA Boom Lowering Control Valve) (If Equipped)
Note: A continuous relief of the valve for more than 10 seconds is not
