Machine Lifting/Tie-down Information
Improper lifting or tie-down can allow load to shift and cause injury or damage.
For basic machine specifications, see Specifications and Model Views in the General Section.Weights and instructions given herein apply to units manufactured by Caterpillar Inc.* CS-573C 13 350 kg (29,370 lb) without cab* CS-573C 13 700 kg (30,140 lb) with cab* CS-583C 15 090 kg (33,200 lb) without cab* CS-583C 15 270 kg (33,600 lb) with cabUse properly rated cables and slings for lifting.Position the crane or lifting device for a level machine lift.Spreader bar widths should be sufficient to prevent contact with machine. 1. Install the steering frame lock pin to hold the front and rear frames rigid. Remove pin (1), lower steering frame lock pin (2) then reinsert pin (1). 2. Attach two lifting cables to right and left rear lifting eyes. These lifting eyes are identified on the machine by a hook symbol. 3. Attach two lifting cables to the right and left front lifting holes. These lifting holes are identified on the machine by a hook symbol.4. Connect the four lifting cables to spreader bars centered over the machine.5. Lift and move the machine. 6. When the machine is in position, block in front of the drum and behind the tires. 7. Secure the machine with tie-downs. Holes are identified on the machine by a tie-down symbol.8. Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.Make sure the cooling system has proper antifreeze if moving machine to a colder climate.
Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance for the machine being transported.To prevent the machine from slipping while loading or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and transport vehicle before loading. 1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown). 2. After the machine is in position, install the steering frame lock pin to hold the front and rear frames rigid. Remove pin (1), lower steering frame lock pin (2) then reinsert pin (1).3. Lower the leveling blade (if equipped).4. Apply the parking brake.5. Turn the engine start switch key to OFF and remove the key.6. Inflate tires to 138 kPa (20 psi) for shipping. Refer to Tire Inflation Information in the Maintenance Section.7. Block and tie-down machine. Refer to Machine Lifting/Tie-down Information in this section for details.8. Turn the disconnect switch key off and remove the key.9. Lock access covers and attach any vandalism protection (if equipped).10.
