Information:

1. Drain the oil from the brake assembly (1).2. Remove four bolts (2) and remove brake assembly (1) from the machine. For installation of the brake assembly, reverse the removal steps. After the brake assembly has been installed, fill with oil to the correct level. See the Operations & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.Disassemble & Assemble Brake Assembly
Start By:a. remove brake assembly 1. Remove bolt (2) and remove yoke (1) from the shaft. 2. Remove retaining (3) from the shaft. 3. Remove eight bolts (5), and remove adapter (4) from housing (6). 4. Remove O-ring seal (7) from housing (6). Check the O-ring seal for wear or damage and replace if necessary. 5. Remove shaft (8) from housing (6) and the bearing. 6. Remove bearing (9) from shaft (8). 7. Position housing (6) in a press as shown. Press on the plate to compress the ten springs under it. Remove retaining ring (10) and slowly release the spring pressure. 8. Remove plate (11) from housing (6). 9. Remove ten springs (12) from the piston. 10. Remove piston (13) from the housing. 11. Remove O-ring seals (19) and back-up rings (14) from housing (6). Check the O-ring seals and back-up seals for wear or damage, and replace if necessary.12. Remove six plates (15), five friction discs (16) and disc shim (18) from the housing.13. Remove bearing (17) from housing (6).14. Remove seal (20) from the housing. The following steps are for the assembly of the brake assembly. All brake assembly components must be cleaned and inspected before assembly. If any components are worn beyond recommended limits they must be replaced. Lubricate all moving parts with clean oil during assembly. Assemble the brake assembly with all new seals.15. Install seal (20) in housing (6).16. Install bearing (17) in the housing.17. Install disc shim (18), five friction discs (16) and six plates (15) in the housing.18. Install O-ring seals (19) and back-up rings (14) in housing (6).19. Install piston (13) in housing (6).20. Position ten springs (12) on piston (13). Distribute the ten springs uniformly.21. Install plate (11) on the springs. When installing retaining ring (10), align the split in the retaining ring with the oil inlet hole in the housing.22. Position housing (6) in a press. Use a press to compress the springs, and install retaining ring (10).23. Install O-ring seal (7) in the housing.24. Use the following procedure to test the seals in the housing.a. Make sure the breather is at the top and all other holes in the housing are closed.b. Connect a hydraulic source to fitting on the housing.c. Apply 2000 kPa (290 psi) of hydraulic pressure.d. The hydraulic pressure must be maintained at 2000 kPa (290 psi) for a minimum time of three minutes. If the pressure cannot be maintained, the O-ring seals and back-up rings must be checked and replaced if necessary.e. With the hydraulic pressure applied to the housing, use shaft (8) to align the splines of the friction discs.f. Release the
