1. Park the machine on level ground. Swing the upper frame to the side.2. Remove the cab bottom guard that is under the travel control levers by removing the mounting bolts.3. Check date code of the spring using a light. See Illustration 1.4. If date code is other than shown on the list on page 1, replacement is not necessary. Install the cab bottom guard using the bolts and washers. If the date code on the 4I6446 Springs is: 49L, 49M, 49O, 49P, 49S, 404, 405, 40D, 40L, 40M or 40Q, take the following steps.5. Remove two 0950843 Cotter pins (see Illustration 1). Remove a 0951316 Pin and a 0994754 Pin, then remove the 4I6446 Spring Assembly and two 8T4224 Washers. Repeat on the other spring assembly. Discard the cotter pins.6. Install a new 4I6446 Spring Assembly using 0951316 and 0994754 Pins. Install two 8T4224 Washer and two 0950843 cotter pins.7. Install the bottom guard under the cab using the bolts and washers that were removed in step 2.
