Remove the two directional control valve end covers. Remove pistons (7) and (12). Remove springs (8) and (13). Remove shim (9) .
Install pistons (12) and (7) into the end covers. Install the end covers on the two directional control valves.Note: The springs and the shim are removed in order to adjust the hydraulic control.

Remove "L" fittings (3) and plug the ports.

Propel Pump (4) Pressure gauges connected to (X1) and (X2) ports.
Remove plugs (1). Install the connectors for the pressure gauges at ports (X1) and (X2). Install two 4000 kPa (580 psi) pressure gauges (4) from the 4C-4892 ORFS Fittings Group to pressure taps.
Set the speed range switch to the HIGH SPEED position.
Start the engine. Run the engine at 1500 rpm. Check the test gauges. Both readings should be identical. If the readings are not identical, the valve must be adjusted.

One half of a revolution of the screw will give all the adjustment that is possible. A small amount of movement of screw (2) will make a large difference in pressure.
To adjust, loosen locknut (5) and turn adjustment screw (2) in either direction in order to get equal pressures at the gauges.
Tighten locknut (5) .

Remove the two directional control valve end covers. Remove pistons (7) and (12). Install shim (9). Install spring (8) and spring (13). Install pistons (7) and (12). Assemble the end covers and install the end covers on the control valve.
Disconnect the brake line. Plug the brake line to the front drum.
Raise the rear of the machine and support the machine on stands. The wheels should be 50 to 76 mm (2 to 3 inch) off the floor. Be sure that the wheels can turn freely. Mark the edge of the wheels for use in counting the drum revolutions.
Remove the two 4000 kPa (580 psi) pressure gauges. Install two 2000 kPa (290 psi) pressure gauges at ports (X1) and (X2) .

Loosen locknut (11) by one half turn.
While you hold the locknut, turn the damping adjustment screw (10) until approximately seven threads are exposed beyond locknut (11). Tighten locknut (11) .
Start the machine. Set the travel speed switch to the LOW RANGE position.Note: Follow steps 17 through 24 for machines that are equipped with an automatic speed control.
Move the propel lever forward to the maximum forward travel speed. Turn the automatic speed control knob clockwise until the forward pressure gauge reads 1200 kPa (174 psi). Leave the automatic speed control in this position.
Move the propel lever rearward to maximum reverse travel speed. The reverse pressure must match the forward pressure
