Test Step 1. CHECK THE BACKUP ALARM RELAY
Turn OFF the key start switch and the disconnect switch.
Remove the backup alarm relay.
Replace the backup alarm relay with one of the other relays.
Turn ON the key start switch and the disconnect switch.
Place the propel lever in the REVERSE position.Expected Result:The backup alarm is active. Results:
OK - The backup alarm is active.Repair: The backup alarm relay has failed. Replace the backup alarm relay. Stop.
NOT OK - The backup alarm is still inactive. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE CIRCUIT OF THE BACKUP ALARM
Turn ON the key start switch and the disconnect switch.
Remove the backup alarm relay.
Place a jumper from contact 3 to contact 5 of the relay's base.Expected Result:The alarm is active.Results:
OK - The alarm is active. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The alarm is still inactive. Proceed to Test Step 5.Test Step 3. CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT OF THE RELAY
Turn OFF the key start switch and the disconnect switch.
The backup alarm relay remains removed.
Measure the resistance from contact 1 of the relay's base to frame ground.Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms.Repair: The ground circuit has failed. Stop.Test Step 4. CHECK THE OUTPUT OF THE ECM
Turn ON the key start switch and the disconnect switch.
Release the parking brake.
Place the propel lever in the REVERSE position.
At the ECM, measure the voltage from contact 17 to frame ground.Expected Result:The voltage is system voltage. Results:
OK - The voltage is system voltage. There is an open in the circuit between the ECM and the relay.Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. Stop.
NOT OK - The voltage is NOT system voltage. The ECM may have failed.Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform the entire procedure again. If the cause of the failure is not found, replace the ECM. See Troubleshooting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". Stop.Test Step 5. CHECK THE POWER CIRCUIT FOR THE RELAY FROM THE POWER SOURCE
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
The relay remains removed.
Measure the voltage from contact 3 of the relay's base to frame ground.Expected Result:The voltage is system voltage. Results:
OK - The voltage is system voltage. The circuit is correct. Proceed to Test Step 6.
NOT OK - The voltage is zero. There is an open in the circuit. Repair: Check the backup alarm fuse. If necessary, repair the wire harness or replace the wire harness. Stop.Test Step 6. CHECK FOR PROPER GROUND AT THE ALARM
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Measure the resistance between the ground wire at the backup alarm (wire 200-BK) and frame ground.Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 7.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. The wire harness has failed.Repair:
