Information:
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
Shut off the engine before any service to the electric power generation equipment is begun. Remove the ignition key. Place the battery disconnect switch in the OFF position.
Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact your Cat dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.
Adjustment Procedure
When the engine-generator, or any source to which the engine-generator is synchronized to, is operating, voltages up to 600V are present in the control panel.Do not short these terminal with line voltage to ground with any part of the body or any conductive material. Loss of life or injury could result from electrical shock or injury from molten metal.

"Type R250""P1" Voltage adjustment screw
Inspect the voltage regulator in order to determine the type of voltage regulator on the machine. Illustration 5 shows a "Type R230" voltage regulator. Illustration 6 shows a "Type R250" voltage regulator.
If, the voltage regulator is a "Type R230" no adjustment is required. Install the top generator cover (2). The rework is complete.
If the voltage regulator is a "Type R250", proceed to Step 7.

Note the position of adjustment screw (3) .
Use Tool (A) to set adjustment screw (3) to the "3 - OFF" position.
Install top generator cover (2) .
Start the engine. Run the machine until the temperature of the hydraulic oil reaches 40° 3°C (105° 5°F).
Stop the engine.
Open the door on the auxiliary electrical panel.Note: If the machine is equipped with an auxiliary electrical panel, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, generator voltage and frequency can be measured at the screed control box or the generator circuit breaker panel. Refer to the machine electrical schematics for line voltage terminal identification. Measure 240 volts AC between line terminals.
Illustration 8 g01809874
Install Tool (B) in the "240 V" receptacles (4) on the auxiliary electrical panel. The tool (B) is used in order to measure the hertz and voltage output of the generator.
Start the engine and place the throttle in the FULL speed position.
Start the generator.
Switch Tool (B) to volts "AC" and check the voltage reading. Tool (B) should read approximately 240 V "AC".
