Removal Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines and on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all linesand hoses. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Loosen clamp (1) .

Disconnect hoses (4) and (9) .
Disconnect tube assemblies (3) and (8) .
Remove nuts (5) and reposition tube (2) .
Remove nuts (7) and turbocharger (6) .
Remove all associated gaskets.Installation Procedure

A     5P-3931     Anti-Seize Compound     1    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.Note: The O-ring seals, gaskets, and seals should always be replaced.

Apply Tooling (A) to the threads on nuts (5) and (7) .
Position turbocharger (6) and install nuts (7). Tighten nuts (7) to a torque of 54 N m (40 lb ft).
Reposition tube (2) and install nuts (5) .
Connect tube assemblies (3) and (8) .
Connect hoses (4) and (9) .

Tighten clamp (1) .
