Information:

Attach the 198-4240 Digital Pressure Indicator to pressure tap (2) with the hose assembly.
Start the engine. Move the engine speed dial to high idle. Raise the boom to the STALLED position.
Loosen the locknut on main relief valve (1) of the travel control valve. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise until the pressure gauge reads 40500 kPa (5875 psi). This will allow the line relief valves of the travel motor to actuate before main relief valve (1) .
Tighten the locknut on main relief valve (1) .

Location of the travel motor
Remove the cover in order to access the travel motor.
Position the pressure gauge and the hydraulic lines in order to prevent damage from any moving components on the machine. Position the test equipment in order to allow either a second technician or the operator that is in the cab to observe the test equipment.
Test
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
Note: Perform the procedure that is listed in the "Preparation for Test" before you perform the following test.
Start the engine.
Warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature. Normal operating temperature is 55 5°C (130 10°F).
Turn the engine speed dial until the engine speed is 1400 80 RPM on the display.

Shift the hydraulic lockout control to the UNLOCKED position. All the implements will function.
Illustration 8 g00787596
Install the stoppers in both sprockets in order to block forward movement.
Do not hold this function or any other function stalled for more than 10 seconds. Hydraulic oil is heated very rapidly when the oil is channeled through relief valves. Component damage could result.
Actuate the travel pedal for the travel motor that is being tested. The travel motor will be in a stalled state. Record the pressure on the pressure gauge while the function is stalled.
The recorded pressure should be 40000 300 kPa (5800 50 psi).Note: If the pressure reading is not within specifications, the line relief valve for the travel function needs to be adjusted. Follow Steps 9 through 12 in order to adjust the line relief valve for the travel function.
Continue to test each function's line relief valve. The pressure for each line relief valve must be taken while the corresponding function is stalled. Apply Steps 6 and 7 in order to test each function's line relief valve. Table 2 has specifications for each line pressure that should be tested.
