The ignition system for the Aftertreatment Regeneration Device (ARD) may operate for ten minutes after the engine has been turned OFF.Do not perform maintenance on the engine or service the engine until the ignition system is disabled.Solution
Disable the ignition system by using one of the following methods:Turn the Keyswitch ON - This disables the ignition system by initializing the Engine Control Module (ECM). Set the "ARD Disable Switch" to the "Disable" Position - This disables the ignition system. Be sure to set the "ARD Disable Switch" to the "Enable" position before the vehicle is returned to service.Disable the Ignition System Via the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) - Set the "ARD Data Link Disable Status" parameter to "Disabled" in order to disable the ignition system. Be sure to set the "ARD Data Link Disable Status" parameter to "Not Disabled" before the vehicle is returned to service.
