The machine frame will tilt if the frame level cylinder mountings are loosened or removed. This could cause serious injury.Ensure suitable packing is placed between the frame and rear axle to prevent movement before loosening the frame level cylinder mountings.
Start by:a. Remove wheel. 1. Park the machine with the frame level and engage the parking brake. If front wheel brake is to be changed, block rear wheels, disengage park brake and install suitable packing between the rear axle and frame. 2. Remove four nuts (1), washers (2) and bolts (3) and remove mudguard (4). 3. Remove split pin (5) and castle nut (6) from steering tie rod. 4. Disconnect steering tie rod from steering pivot using a suitable puller. 5. If necessary remove locknuts (7), nuts (8), bolts (9) and plate (10) and disconnect frame level cylinder from axle. 6. Attach sling to axle body and support with lifting equipment.7. Remove twelve nuts (11), washers (12) and remove axle body complete with disc brake unit from machine. 8. Loosen locknuts (13) and screw adjusting screws (14) completely out of axle body, collecting springs (15) on removal. Remove pressure plate (16). 9. Remove brake rotors (17) and stators (18). 10. Remove the four brake pistons (19). 11. Remove the 'O' ring seal (20) and back up ring (21) from each piston.Install Disc Brake Assembly.
Prior to assembly make sure all components are clean. Precision fitted components will be damaged by foreign material.
1. Lubricate 'O' ring seals (20) with clean hydraulic fluid then assemble one back up ring (21) and one 'O' ring seal (20) to each piston (19). 2. Install pistons (19) into the cylinders. 3. Install the brake stators (18) and rotors (17) into the axle aligning the oil holes in the stators and rotors. 4. Position the three springs (15) into the axle housing and install the pressure plate (16). 5. Install the three adjusting screws (14). Tighten the screws then back off three quarters to one full turn to obtain brake pack clearance. Install locknuts (13). 6. Install the axle body onto the axle housing and secure with twelve washers (12) and nuts (11).
Refer to Brake System, System Operation Testing and Adjusting Manual, Form No. SENR5844, for brake adjustment procedure.
7. Install mounting plate (10), bolts (9) and nuts (8). Tighten nuts to a torque of 445 - 455Nm (332 - 341 lb.ft.). Install locknuts (7). 8. Install tie rod, castle nut (6) and split pin (5). 9. Install mudguard (4) and secure with four bolts (3), washers (2) and nuts (1).10. Remove wooden chocks or steel wedges from rear axle.End by:a. Install wheel.
