Remove the magneto. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Magneto - Remove and Install" for the engine that is being serviced.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove screws (1) and the lockwashers that hold cover (2) in place. Carefully remove cover (2). The ground wire is fastened to cover (2).

Remove screw (3) and disconnect the ground wire from block assembly (4).

Remove screws (5), the washers and the lockwashers. Remove block assembly (4) from cover (2).

Remove brushes (6) and the springs from block assembly (4).

Remove four screws (8) and the lockwashers. Pull end cap (7) away from the housing far enough in order to disconnect the ground wire from the contact points.

Disconnect grounding wire (9) from the contact points.

Disconnect grounding wires (9) from end cap (7).
Remove cover (10) and the screens from each side of the end cap.

Remove screw (11), the lockwasher, and distributor disc (12).

Remove contact points (13) and condenser (14).
Illustration 10 g00996246Note: Place a mark on cam (15) in order to identify the correct key at assembly.
Remove nut (16), cam (15), and the key from the shaft.
Remove two screws, the washers, the lockwashers and plate (17) from the bearing support.

Remove three screws (18) and the lockwashers that hold bearing support (19) in position.

Install a 1 1/2 inch long 1/4 inch 20 NC forcing screw (20), as shown. Remove bearing support (19) from the housing.

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove snap ring (21).
