Remove And Install Valve Lifters
start by: a) remove valve covers If all the valve lifters are to be removed, remove the rocker shaft assembly and push rods.1. Turn the crankshaft with tool (C) until there is no pressure on rocker arm (2).2. Make a separation between arm (2) and push rod (1) with tool (A). Remove push rod. 3. Remove valve lifter (3) with tool (B).4. Remove spring (4) from lifter (3).
Install new guide springs on the valve lifters any time the lifters are removed from the engine.
5. Install a new spring on the valve lifter with tooling (D) and a soft hammer.6. Remove lifter from holder (5) [which is part of tooling (D)]. Put tool (E) in position in the handle of tooling (D). 7. Put clean engine oil on the lifter. Put lifter (3) into position in the cylinder block with spring (4) in alignment with the hole in the block. Push the lifter out of tooling (D) with tool (E). 8. Install push rods (1). Use tool (A) to make a connection between rod (1) and rocker arm (2). If the rocker shaft assembly and push rods were removed, they are to be installed at this time.end by:a) install valve covers
