Disconnect batteries before performance of any service work.
1. Place wood blocks in front of and behind the tires of the machine so it cannot move.
To prevent possible personal injury, do not disconnect any air lines until the air pressure in the system is zero.
2. Release the brakes as follows:a. Drain the air from the air reservoirs. The two tractor air reservoirs are located under the left front of the machine. The scraper air reservoir is located at the right rear of the machine.b. Disconnect air hose assembly (1) from the brake actuator.c. Connect shop air to inlet port (2) of the brake actuator. Keep the air supply constant. 3. Put Tooling (A) in position under the frame of the tractor as shown. Lift the machine until the tire is off the floor.4. Put Tooling (B) in position under the frame of the tractor to support it as shown.5. Put Tooling (C) in position under the frame of the tractor at the front as shown.6. Lower the weight of the tractor onto Tooling (B) and (C).7. Turn the wheel assembly until the drain plug for the final drive is at its lowest position.8. Drain the oil from the front differential and the final drive into a suitable container for storage or disposal. the combined capacity of the front differential and final drives is 158 liters (41.1 U.S. gal). 9. Loosen, but do not remove six bolts (3) and the washers that hold cover (4) in position.10. Install three 1/2 " - 13 NC forcing screws in cover (4). Tighten the forcing screws evenly to loosen the cover. Remove six bolts (3), the washers and cover (4) from the final drive. 11. Remove O-ring seal (5) from the back side of cover (4). Remove four self-locking bolts (6) and plate (7) from the back side of the cover. It may be necessary to turn the wheel assembly a small amount to free up the drive axle shaft.12. Install a 5/16 " - 18 NC forged eyebolt in the end of drive axle shaft (8). Pull the drive axle shaft out of the final drive until a hoist can be fastened to it.13. Fasten a lifting sling and a hoist to drive axle shaft (8), and remove it. The weight of the left hand drive axle shaft is 30 kg (65 lb). The weight of the right hand drive axle shaft is 36 kg (80 lb). 14. Remove retainer ring (11), sun gear (10), and spacer (9) from the end of the drive axle shaft. The following steps are for the installation of the drive axle shafts.15. Be sure the drive axle shaft is thoroughly clean and free of dirt and debris prior to installation. 16. Fasten a lifting sling and a hoist to drive axle shaft (8). Put the drive axle shaft in position in the final drive. 17. Slide Tool (D) over the end of the drive axle shaft. Push the drive axle shaft into the differential. Remove Tool
