(11) Output shaft A power take-off is used to send power from the engine to accessory components. For example, a power take-off can be used to drive an air compressor or a water pump.The power take-off is driven by ring (1) that is splined around the inside diameter. The ring can be connected to the front or rear of the engine crankshaft by an adapter. The splines on the ring engage with the splines on the outside diameter of driven plate assemblies (2).When power take-off control lever (4) is moved to the Engaged position, fork (7) moves collar assembly (5) in the direction of the engine. The collar assembly is connected to four levers (3). The action of the levers will hold the faces of plate assemblies (2), plate assemblies (10) and hub (9) tight together. The friction between these faces permits the flow of torque from ring (1) through plate assemblies (2) to plate assemblies (10) and hub (9). Splines on the inside diameter of the plate assemblies drive the hub. The hub is held in position on output shaft (11) by a taperlock nut (8) and key (6).When lever (4) is moved to the Disengaged position, fork (7) moves collar assembly (5) away from the engine. The movement of the collar assembly will release levers (3). When the levers are released, there will not be enough friction between the faces of the clutch assembly in order to permit a flow of torque.
