B     138-7574     Link Brackets     2    Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Clean the inside of axle housing (1) with clean towels. Clean the mating surfaces of the carrier and the axle housing. Apply 4C-9507 Retaining Compound to the mating surface of the axle housing.
Install Tooling (A), an appropriate lifting sling, and a hoist to yoke (5). Align the dowel pins and install carrier (2) to axle housing (1). The weight of the differential assembly is approximately 295 kg (650 lb).
Install the 26 bolts (3), the washers, and the spacers. Tighten the bolts in a star pattern. Tighten the bolts to an initial torque of 125 25 N m (92 18 lb ft).
Tighten the bolts to a final torque of 270 25 N m (200 18 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) .End By: Install the rear drive axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Drive Axle - Install".
