Asphalt Reclamation Treatment Process
The RM-300 can be equipped with one of two optional additive systems. This includes the asphalt emulsion system and the water spray system. The asphalt emulsion system is used during asphalt reclamation, and the water spray system is used during the soil stabilization.Note: The RM-300 can be equipped with either an emulsion system or a water system.During the asphalt reclamation treatment process, the asphalt emulsion system mixes reclaimed asphalt, cutbacks, or rejuvenators with the pulverized asphalt and base materials in the mixing chamber in order to form a stable base. This mixture is then shaped with a motor grader. The mixture is then compacted with a vibratory compactor or a pneumatic compactor. The upgraded road base is then ready for the application of a surface coat.Viscosity, Temperature, and Flow Specifications
The asphalt emulsion system provides volumetric control of emulsion. Temperatures of the additive can be between 43 °C (110 °F) and 88 °C (190 °F). The system can deliver additive at rates of 114 to 760 L/min (30 to 200 US gpm).Reservoir
The additive system is designed to be used with a self-propelled tanker with a large capacity or "nurse", that supplies the emulsion or water.Emulsion and/or water is usually delivered from the additive truck through a 76.2 mm (3 inch) hose. The emulsion should be gravity feed from the additive truck to the machine. A push bar acts as a solid link between the machine and the additive truck. When the machine stops moving, unused emulsion recirculates within the system. If a return line is installed, the emulsion can also be returned to the additive truck.Spray System
The additive system is supported by two subsystems. the hydrostatic drive subsystem and the electronic control subsystem.

Refer to Illustration 1. Unused emulsion can be recirculated through the system or returned to the supply truck. The position of the spray bar cylinder determines if the emulsion is directed out of the nozzles or into the return line. The auxiliary hydraulic pump provides the oil in order to operate the spray bar cylinder. Oil flow to the spray bar cylinder is controlled by the spray bar solenoid, which is in turn, controlled by the additive electronic control module (ECM) in the electronic control subsystem.Hydrostatic Drive Subsystem
The hydrostatic drive subsystem consists of an electronically controlled, variable displacement pump with an integral charge pump, an externally mounted charge
