Seals with rubberized coating scraped awayOil may leak from the weep hole of the transmission pump on the machines listed above. When installing the 9X-7433 Lip Type Seal (A) of shaft, the burrs on the inside diameter of the shaft seal bore on 361-3989 Pump Adapter and 363-7242 Pump Adapter may scratch off the rubberized outside diameter coating of the shaft seals. This action may result in oil leaks through the weep hole.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and is recommending the following interim corrective action.
In the event of weep hole leak, inspect the 9X-7433 Lip Type Seal for any damage to the rubberized coating.

Pump adapter with burrs on the ring grooveIf the coating is damaged, inspect the adapter ring groove for any presence of burr.

Guide the outside diameter of 9X-7433 Lip Type Seal (A) into the pump adapter. Orient shaft seals on the pump drive shaft (C) as shown in Illustration 4.
