Procedure
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Location of the electronic transmission controlNote: The literature compartment (1) must be removed from the seat base on early machines. The literature compartment must be relocated to a new position.
Remove the seat. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4631 (9EP0571), "R1600 L.H.D. Vehicle Systems", "Remove Seat" for R1600. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4675 (9EP5405), "R1700G L.H.D. Vehicle Systems", "Seat - Remove and Install" for R1700G.
Remove electronic transmission control (2) .

Modify seat base (3). Refer to Illustration 2.

Weld six 1DE3092 Tapping Blocks (5) into position on the underside of seat base (3). Refer to Illustration 3. Refer to Service Manual, RENR4700 (1DE0603), "Welding Repairs and Welding Procedures".
