Air System Test
Be sure seat belt is fastened.
Machine level, bowl lowered with slight down pressure, parking brake set and engine stopped.
Be sure brake rotochamber rods are adjusted correctly. 1. Start engine. Allow air pressure to reach NORMAL on air pressure gauge.2. Apply service brakes.3. Stop engine.4. With brakes applied, air pressure drop should be no more than 5 psi (35 kPa) in 10 minutes. Inspect air lines and connections if pressure drop is greater. Make necessary repairs.Service Brake Test
Be sure area is clear of personnel and obstructions.
1. Start engine. 2. Allow air pressure gauge indicator to reach NORMAL.3. Depress service brake. Raise bowl. 4. Move PARK/EMERGENCY brake lever to EMERGENCY position. At the same time, depress and hold the air pressure governor override button for 3 seconds. This will allow air pressure to build up to fully release the parking brake.5. Move the PARK/EMERGENCY brake valve lever to RELEASE. 6. Release transmission safety lock and pull transmission control lever to 2nd speed. 7. Increase engine speed slowly. Service brakes should prevent machine from moving at 1400 RPM.8. Return governor control to low idle.9. Return transmission control to NEUTRAL and engage safety lever.10. Lower bowl with slight down pressure.11. Apply parking brake. Stop engine.12. If brakes do not function properly, have repairs made.Emergency Brake Test
1. Start engine. Allow air pressure gauge indicator to reach NORMAL.2. Apply service brake. Raise bowl. 3. Move PARK/EMERGENCY brake valve lever to EMERGENCY. Depress and hold air governor override button for 3 seconds.4. Move transmission control lever to 2nd speed.5. Release service brake and slowly raise engine RPM. EMERGENCY brake should prevent machine from moving at 1400 RPM.6. Lower engine speed. Apply service brake.7. Move transmission control lever to NEUTRAL and apply lock. 8. Move PARK/EMERGENCY brake valve lever to PARK.9. Lower bowl with slight down pressure.10. Stop engine.11. If EMERGENCY brake does not function properly, have necessary repairs made.Parking Brake Test
1. Start engine and allow air pressure gauge indicator to reach NORMAL.2. Apply service brake.3. Raise bowl. 4. Move PARK/EMERGENCY brake valve lever to EMERGENCY position. Depress and hold the air governor override button for 3 seconds.5. Move PARK/EMERGENCY brake valve lever back to PARK.6. Release service brake.7. With governor control at LOW IDLE, PARKING brake should prevent machine from moving in 2nd speed. 8. Return transmission to NEUTRAL and apply transmission safety lock.9. Lower bowl with slight down pressure. Stop engine.10. If PARKING brake does not function properly, have repairs made.
If any brake system fails to function properly, make necessary repairs before returning machine to service.
