The fuel level sender installed in the fuel tank may not be reporting the correct fuel level to the gage on the gage cluster. Some failed field parts returned have been tested and no fault was found with the sender.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been defined. Replace with the same part number. Prior to replacing the part, check that all electrical connections are secure between the wiring harness and the connector. Also, test the sender connected to the harness but removed from the tank by moving the arm to verify if the gage in the cab is not moving.
