Information:
Using a cetane improver additive can also reduce white smoke during engine start-up. It increases the cetane number of diesel fuel which improves ignition quality. This makes it easier for fuel to ignite and burn.
Cetane improver can be mixed with fuel in bulk to help reduce white smoke. There are several applications in which this fuel/additive mixture works best. If a truck uses 25 gallons or less of fuel per day, is started frequently, and idled for long stretches, you may want to try this fuel mixture. This method puts a larger amount of cetane additive in the fuel during the entire operation of the engine - not just start-up. For the best results, put the additive in an empty tank or add it while the tank is being filled with fuel. The following chart shows the ratio of Ethyl DII3 Diesel Ignition Improver to use in a specific quantity of fuel.
The Ethyl DII2 Diesel Ignition Improver is also used with the 9N3771 Injector Group (Cetane). It is available from:

The additive is available in 19.0 Liters (5 gal) and 208 Liters (55 gal) drums.
The 9N3771 Injection Group (Cetane) has a 6 qt (U.S.) tank that holds the cetane improver, Ethyl DII2 Diesel Ignition Improver. When the engine starter is engaged, the injector group releases the cetane improver through the solenoid valve directly into the fuel system. The amount of cetane improver released depends on how quickly the engine starts and the idle speed of the engine during the two minutes the solenoid valve is open. This group includes Special Instruction, Form SEHS7253.
