This section covers the connection of a third-party GPS receiver to the "COM" port of the Gen 3.1 or Gen 4.0 DSS module.The customer must consult with the GPS integrator or support channels of the GPS provider to ensure that the required outputs are available and ensure that the correct physical connections can be made to the third-party device.The 245-7310 Control Harness As used to make the serial data connection from the GPS device to the DSS module is intended to be connected to the standard 3-pin circular service connection of a GPS device. If this connection is not available, a unique connection may be created. The Caterpillar part number for the 3-pin connector receptacle is listed below in the optional parts Table 7.Required Output

Perform the following procedure to connect third-party satellite receiver and DSS:
Identify the third-party serial output connection of the third-party GPS satellite receiver.
Connect the 3-pin end of 245-7310 Control Harness As to the third-party output by referring to the Table 8.Note: Disassembly of the 3-pin connector may be required. If this is required extract the wires using a 151-6320 Wire Removal Tool and connect them as listed in the below Table 8. If the third-party device has an open connection, the parts listed in the optional parts (Table 7) can be applied to complete the connection.
