Remove the secondary escape and/or the skylight (only on Track Feller Bunchers) from the top of the operator cab. Take caution and use a lifting device as the secondary hatch and skylight each weigh approximately 32 kg (71 lb).

For Track Feller Buncher machines equipped with a skylight, flip the skylight upside down and apply a silicone sealant or RTV caulk between the skip welds.

Remove the 6V-8109 Seal or 284-3953 Seal from the top of the channel. Peel away as much as possible by hand.
If a 5P-1088 Seal is installed around the outside perimeter of the channels, remove the seal by peeling away as much as possible by hand.
Remove any remaining material with a plastic putty knife to prevent damaging the painted surface. Clean off any remaining adhesive residue with isopropyl alcohol.

Thoroughly clean the area around the channels. This area is the location seal (1) will be located.

(A) Silicone sealant or equivalent
Apply silicone sealant or equivalent (A) between the outside channel and the roof. Apply the sealant in each of the four vertical corner abutments from the roof to 6 mm (0.25 inch) below the top of the channel.

(1) 178-8894 Seal
Apply approximately 2.6 m (8 ft 6.4 inch) of new seal (1). Ensure that the seal is applied with the rounded edge facing the channel as shown in Illustration 7.

Ensure that the start/stop point is at the back of the cab as shown by the arrow in Illustration 8. For skylight hatches on the Track Feller Bunchers, ensure that the start/stop point is at the front of the cab. This method will prevent water from draining toward the start/stop point during machine operation.
Reinstall the secondary escape hatch and/or the skylight. Make sure that the edge of the new seal does not protrude past the outer lip of the hatch.
Adjust the over-center latches to avoid rattling and secure.Note: Continue to the next step for Track Feller Buncher machines equipped with a skylight. For Forestry Machines, skip to Step 20.
Unlatch front hatch. If unable to unlatch, carefully shift the hatch side-to-side. This action should remove load from the latch and make the hatch easier to remove.

Add one clip (2) as shown in Illustration 10 to each latch.
As needed, add up to three hard washers (3) under clip (2) to maintain a clearance of 1 mm to 2.5 mm (0.040 inch to 0.098) to the hatch rib.Note: If using two or three washers, use screws (4). If using
