Harness connector for the phase module
(13) Temperature sensor positive circuit - "F"
(14) Temperature sensor negative circuit - "G"
(15) Positive 24 volt power circuit - "M"
(16) Negative 24 volt power circuit - "L"
At the harness connector for the PMC1 phase module, measure the resistance between the sensor positive contact "F" (wire RTDW1P-BK(Black)) and the 24 volt power circuit contacts "L" (wire AC24W1A-BK(Black)) and "M" (wire AC24W1B-BK(Black)) .
At the harness connector for the PMC1 phase module, measure the resistance between the sensor negative contact "G" (wire RTDW1N-BK(Black)) and the 24 volt power circuit contacts "L" (wire AC24W1A-BK(Black)) and "M" (wire AC24W1B-BK(Black)) . Expected Result:At the ECM connectors, each of the resistance measurements between the temperature sensor circuits and all of the other circuits that are used in the ECM connectors are greater than 4000 ohms. At the harness connector for the phase module, each of the resistance measurements between the temperature sensor circuits and the two power circuits are greater than 4000 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance measurements are indicating that the temperature sensor circuits are not shorted to any other circuit in the ECM connectors or in the phase module connector. Proceed to the Test Step 5.
NOT OK - At least one or more of the resistance measurements between the temperature sensor circuits and other circuits is less than 4000 ohms. The low resistance between the circuits is indicating that there is a short circuit between one of the temperature sensor circuits and another circuit.Repair: Due to the complexity of the fiber optic circuits, the individual wiring harness for each of the phase modules is not serviceable. When a problem is found in the wiring harness for a phase module, the complete wiring harness must be replaced. If any type of damage to the wiring is found or if the connectors for the phase module wiring harness are damaged, replace the phase module wiring harness in order to resolve the problem. When a phase module wiring harness is installed, do not bend the harness at less than a four inch radius. The light transferring ability of the fiber optic circuits will be decreased if the harness is bent at too tight of a radius. STOPTest Step 5. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE
Inspect the harness wiring connectors for the ECM and the phase module that are disconnected. Clean the contacts of the connectors. Check the wires for damage to the insulation that can be caused by excessive heat or chafing.
Reconnect all harness wiring connectors. Make sure that the connectors are fully seated and are fastened. Ensure that the retaining bolts are properly tightened.
Install the cabinet compartment cover for the phase module compartment. Ensure that all of the covers bolts are installed and are tight.
Do not install the cabinet low voltage compartment cover at this time.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Determine if the MID 169, CID 3648 FMI 03 diagnostic code is active. Expected
