2. Install lower cap (3) without the seal. Install nuts (5) with lockwashers to hold the cap in place.3. Install the lower bearing cup. Make sure that the cup comes in contact with lower cap (3). The temperature of the bearing cups can be lowered to -100° 10°F (-73° 5°C) for installation.4. Put one of the plates (A) in place on the lower cap.5. Put the bearing cones in oil and then put them in place.6. Install the top bearing cup. Install the cup so there is light pressure on the cones.7. Put the other plate (A) in place on the bearing cone. Install bolt (B) and nut (C) to hold the plates.8. Install the original thickness of shims (2) and top cap (1) (without the seal).9. Install three bolts (4) and tighten them to the standard torque. Keep the same space between each of the bolts.10. Use a torque wrench on bolt (B) to turn the bearing cones. Make a note of the torque required to turn the cones slowly. The correct torque is 20 to 70 lb. in. (2.3 to 8.0 N m)11. If the torque is not correct, add or remove shims (2). Removal of the shims will increase the torque and the addition of shims will cause a torque decrease.12. When the torque is correct, remove the bearing caps (1) and (3) and plates (A). Install the seals in the bearing caps and then install the bearing caps again.13. Install the pivot pin. Lower Bearing Adjustment(D) Two FT1386 Plates(E) 1/2"-13 NC bolt 9.00 in. long (6M9618)(C) 1/2"-13 NC nut (1D4719)9S7354 Torque Wrench 1. Put 4S9416 or 9M3710 Anti-Seize Compound on the bearing bores in the frame.2. Install three bolts (9) to hold lower cap (8) in place.3. Install the lower bearing cup. Make sure that the cup comes in contact with lower cap (8). The temperature of the bearing cups can be lowered to -100° 10°F (-73° 5°C) for installation.4. Put the bearing cones in oil and then put them in place.5. Install top bearing cup.6. Install the original thickness of shims (7).7. Put upper cap (6) in place with three bolts (10).8. Put the FT1386 Plates (D) in place on the bearing cones. Install bolt (E) and nut (C) to hold the plates in place.9. Use a torque wrench on bolt (E) to turn the bearing cones. Make a note of the torque required to turn the cones slowly. The correct torque is 100 to 350 lb. in. (11.3 to 39.6 N m)10. If the torque is not correct, add or remove shims (7). Remove shims to increase the torque and add shims to decrease the torque. 11. When the torque is correct remove plates (D) and install the pin: a. Install plate (12) without shims. Use six bolts (11) to hold it in place. Tighten the bolts to the standard torque.b. Measure the gap between the plate and the frame.c. Install shims (13) to this thickness.
