Input ring gear (9) is splined to and turns with the input shaft. Input ring gear (9) spins planetary gears (8). No. 1 clutch (3) is engaged and holds clutch hub (2). Clutch hub (2) is splined to and now holds sun gear (29) stationary. Since sun gear (29) is being held, planetary gears (8) walk around the outside of sun gear (29). This drives planetary gear (29). This drives planetary carrier (7) in the same direction as input shaft (1). Planetary carrier (7) is bolted to and rotates with No. 3 clutch housing (11). Housing (11) is splined to and now turns center shaft (12) the same direction as input shaft (1).Sun gear (19) is splinned to and turns with center shaft (12). Sun gear (19) spins planetary gears (22) which spin ring gear (20). Planetary gears (22) are supported by planetary carrier and output hub (23). Sun gear (27) is splined to and spins with ring gear (20). No. 7 clutch (24) is engaged and holds ring gear (25). Sun gear (27) now tries to spin planetary gears (26). Since ring gear (25) is being held, planetary gears (26) walk around the inside of ring gear (25). This drives planetary carrier (28) in the opposite direction of input shaft (1) and center shaft (12). Planetary carrier (28) is splined to and turns planetary carrier and output hub (23).
