1. Fasten a hoist to elevator guard assembly (1). Remove four bolts (2), the washers and nuts that hold the elevator guard assembly to the elevator drive group. Remove the elevator guard assembly. The weight of the elevator guard assembly is 68 kg (150 lb). 2. Move one of the flight assemblies directly above the elevator drive group as shown. Fasten lifting slings and a hoist to the flight assembly. Remove the bolts, washers and nuts that hold the flight assembly to the chain assemblies. Remove the flight assembly. The weight of the flight assembly is 48 kg (105 lb).3. Remove the remainder of the flight assemblies as in Step 2.4. Remove the tension from the chain assemblies by removing the elevator chain top idlers. See the topic "Remove Elevator Chain Top Idlers" in this module. 5. Fasten Tool (A) to the chain assembly as shown. Tighten Tool (A) until the chain link moves freely. Remove the pins, plate, and link from the chain assembly.6. It will be necessary to cut the pins to allow the links to be removed.7. Remove Tool (A) from the chain assembly. Fasten a hoist to the chain assembly. Slowly turn the elevator drive group, and let the chain assembly fall into the scraper bowl. The weight of each chain assembly is 159 kg (350 lb).Install Elevator Flight Assemblies & Chain Assemblies
1. Fasten a hoist to the chain assembly. Put the chain assembly in position over the drive sprocket of the elevator drive group and the chain assembly idlers.2. Fasten Tool (A) to the chain assembly. Tighten Tool (A) until the link can be installed in the chain assembly. Install the plate and new pins on the link.3. Install the other chain assembly as in Steps 1 and 2. 4. Install the elevator chain top idlers. See the topic "Install Elevator Chain Top Idlers" in this module.5. Fasten lifting slings and a hoist to the flight assembly as shown. Put the flight assembly in position on the chain assemblies. Install the bolts, washers and nuts that hold the flight assembly to the chain assemblies.6. Install the remainder of the flight assemblies as in Step 5.7. Adjust the tension of the elevator chain assemblies. Fasten a hoist to elevator guard assembly (1). Put the elevator guard assembly in position on the elevator drive group. Install four bolts (2), the washers and nuts that hold it.9. Start the machine, and check the operation of the elevator.
