Remove Brake Control Valve (Treadle)
start by:a) remove cab front cover
To prevent possible personal injury do not disconnect any lines from the brake control valve (2) until all air pressure in the air system has been released.
1. Put identification on the five lines connected to the brake control valve. Disconnect four lines (1), (3), (4) and (5) from brake control valve (2). 2. Remove cotter pin and pin (7) that fasten pedal (6) to the plate (8). 3. Remove rubber boot (11) and plunger (10).4. Remove three bolts (9), (12) and (13) that fasten the brake control valve to plate (8). 5. Disconnect line (14) from brake control valve (2) and remove the valve.Install Brake Control Valve (Treadle)
1. Connect line (2) to brake control valve (1). Put the valve in position under the floor of the cab. 2. Install three bolts (5) that fasten the valve to plate (4). Install plunger (3) in the plate. 3. Install rubber boot (7) on the plate. Put pedal (6) in position on the plate and install the pin and cotter pin that fasten the pedal to the plate. 4. Connect four lines (8), (9), (10) and (11) to the brake control valve.end by:a) install cab front coverDisassemble Brake Control Valve (Treadle)
start by:a) remove brake control valve
Piston assembly (2) is under spring force. To prevent possible personal injury slowly remove the piston assembly.
1. Push down on piston assembly (2) and bend the locks out on retainer (1). Slowly remove the piston assembly and spring from the valve. 2. Remove O-ring seal (4) from piston (3).3. Remove the bolt (7), seat (6) and spring (rubber) (5) from the piston. 4. Use tool (A) to remove snap ring (8). Remove the valve assembly from the valve body. 5. Remove screw (9), water and diaphragm (10) from the valve assembly.6. Remove spring (11) that holds the valve together from under diaphragm (10).7. Remove the spring (13), valve (16) and retainer (15).8. Remove O-ring seals (12) and (14).Assemble Brake Control Valve (Treadle)
1. Inspect the O-ring seals for damage and make replacements if needed. Make sure the parts are clean and free of foreign materials. 2. Install O-ring seal on retainer (8). Install retainer (8) on valve (9) with the flat side toward spring (6).3. Install O-ring seal (5) on seat (4).4. Install spring (6) on valve (9).5. Push valve (9) and spring (6) on seat (4) until spring (3) can be installed to hold the valve and seat together.6. Install diaphragm (2), washer and screw (1) on seat (4). 7. Install the valve assembly in valve body (10). Install the snap ring that holds the valve in place with tool (A). 8. Install O-ring seal (12) on piston (11).9. Install spring (rubber) (13) on piston (11) with the outside chamfer toward seat (14).10. Install seat (14) and washer and bolt (15) on piston (11).11. Install the spring and piston assembly in the valve body. 12. Put retainer (16) in position on the piston assembly. Push the piston
