Test accumulator nitrogen precharge pressure when seat suspension becomes stiff or unadjustable. See your Caterpillar dealer for current testing procedure and pressure.(68)Seat Belt
Seat belt must be replaced every 3 years regardless of appearance.
Inspect condition of belt and attaching devices. Replace belt or attaching devices if worn or damaged.(69)Brakes
Machine level, bowl lowered, with slight down pressure, parking brake set and engine stopped. Inspect brake adjustment and inspect brake drums, linings and cams for wear or damage if brakes become noisy.(70)Cooling System Relief Valves-Scraper
Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. Steam can cause personal injury.
Clean or replace relief valve when coolant loss is experienced or system does not maintain pressure. 1. Remove scraper radiator cap slowly to relieve pressure.2. Remove 5 bolts and remove cover from relief valve. 3. Inspect valve for damage, deposits or foreign material.4. Clean with clean cloth or replace as necessary.5. Inspect gaskets. Replace if damaged.6. Install new or clean valve and cover.7. Add coolant, if necessary, to bring level to within 1/2 inch (1 cm) of bottom of filler pipe.8. Install radiator cap.9. Observe coolant level after several hours or operation. Tractor: Remove tractor radiator cap slowly to relieve pressure. Repeat above steps 2 through 9 on tractor cooling system relief valve.(71)Draft Arm Bolts
Tighten draft arm to tube flange bolts to 640 80 lb. ft. (865 110 N m), when looseness is apparent or suspected.(72)Transfer Case Sump Screens
Use caution when cleaning screens. Hot oil or components can cause personal injury.

Clean tractor transfer case sump screen when lubricant becomes thick, or when making repairs on tractor transmission or transfer gears. Clean scraper transfer case sump screen when lubricant becomes thick, or when making repairs on scraper transmission or transfer gears.(73)Circuit Breakers And Indicators
Push in to reset any circuit breaker if it opens. Test electrical system if it opens again in a short time.
Replace inoperative indicator bulbs or broken gauges before operating the machine.
(74)Air Conditioner
Change or clean filter elements if a reduction of air circulation is noticed. 1. Remove 2 recirculating air filter cover bolts and remove cover. 2. Remove 2 sponge-type filters located under the cover.3. Wash the filter elements and cover in warm water and a household detergent.
When using pressure air, wear face shield and protective clothing. Use 30 PSI (205 kPa) maximum pressure air for cleaning purposes.
4. Rinse throughly and blow dry. Install clean filter elements and cover. 5. Unlock the 2 air conditioner filter covers located on top of the cab on each side of the unit. 6. Remove and replace the 2 outside air filters.7. Clean, close and secure the 2 covers.(75)Tires
Caterpillar recommends using dry nitrogen (N2) gas for both tire inflation, and tire pressure adjustments on all rubber tired machines. Nitrogen is an inert gas and will not support combustion inside the tire.
