Position transfer shaft (20) onto a suitable press and suitable blocking. Place a suitable block (not shown) under transfer shaft (20) in order to support transfer shaft (20) from the bottom.

Use two people in order to install output gear (21) onto transfer shaft (20). The weight of output gear (21) is approximately 39 kg (86 lb).

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to install bearing cage (14) onto transfer shaft (20). The weight of bearing cage (14) is approximately 39 kg (86 lb)

Install yoke assembly (18) and O-ring seal (19).

Install retainer (17) and bolt (16).

Attach a suitable lifting device to yoke assembly (18). The combined weight of bearing cage (14), the transfer shaft, and yoke assembly (18) is approximately 107 kg (236 lb). Use the suitable lifting device in order to install bearing cage (14), the transfer shaft, and yoke assembly (18) into transfer case (13).
Install bolts (15) and the washers. Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 120 20 N m (89 15 lb ft).
Remove bolt (16), retainer (17), yoke assembly (18), and the O-ring seal. Note: Yoke assembly (18), retainer (17), bolt (16), and the O-ring seal will be installed after the torque converter, transmission, and transfer output gears are installed in the machine. Yoke assembly (18) must be installed in phase with yoke assembly (6) at that time.
Reposition transfer case (13) to the opposite side. The weight transfer case (13) is approximately 526 kg (1160 lb).

Install spacer (12).

Lower the temperature of bearing race (10). Install bearing (10) into bearing cage (8).
Install O-ring seal (11) to bearing cage (8).

Use Tooling (B) in order to install lip seal (9) to bearing cage (8). Make sure that lip seal (9) is installed flush with Surface (Y) of bearing cage (8), as shown in Illustration 41. Lubricate lip seal (9) with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install bearing cage (8). Install bolts (7) and the washers. Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 70 15 N m (52 11 lb ft).

Install yoke assembly (6) and O-ring seal (5).

Install O-ring seal (4).
Apply Tooling (H) to the threads of bolt (2).
Install retainer (3) and bolt (2). Tighten bolt (2) to a torque of 475 60 N m (350 44 lb ft).

Install screen housing (1). End By:
Connect the output transfer gears to the transmission.
