This test will check the drift rate of the lift cylinder. The drift rates will change according to many conditions (hydraulic oil temperature, type of work tool, or load on the work tool).
The utilization of Cat® ET is the preferred method to perform the Lift and Tilt Cylinder Drift Check. In cases where the hydraulic oil temperature requirement cannot be met in order to perform the test in Cat® ET, perform the test procedure listed below.
Test Procedure

Manual lowering ball valve
Ensure that the ball valve (manual lower) is in the CLOSED position. Note: The ball valve is located in the front frame near the articulation hitch.
Start the engine.
Cycle the lift cylinders five times.
Fully extend the lift cylinders. Move the lift control lever to the HOLD position. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Check the distance of rod movement for the lift cylinders at the different temperatures in Table 2. Compare the distance to the values that are listed in Table 2.
Start the engine. Fully extend the lift cylinders. Move the lift control lever to the HOLD position.
Cycle the tilt cylinder five times.
Position the work tool so that the bottom of the work tool is parallel to the ground. Move the tilt control lever to the HOLD position. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Check the distance of rod movement for the tilt cylinder at the temperatures in Table 2. Compare the distance to the values that are listed in Table 2.
